If you have only a few days in Germany, I'd highly recommend a Rhein River cruise; not only is it a great trip, but you are able to see many castles in one outing--I can't imagine another way to see this much in so short a time. (In fact, there was so much to see I shot over 100 pictures, and have lost track of what we saw--if anyone notices mislabeled areas let me know so I might change them!) Carole and I took the trip the Saturday before Easter (2003), and while the weather was a little overcast and actually "spritzing" when we left the house, we decided to go for it anyway. It turned out to be just fine, and we're sure we'll go again. Our next trip will include an overnight, either at St. Goar or back in Rüdesheim. We started out in (and returned to) Rüdesheim and went to St. Goar, with several stops in between. Most of the stops would be interesting to explore, but there is only so much time!
